ADDENDUM- “Quickie Shorebirding” ; a look in Hammonasset (Oct 18)

Day 6 (Oct 19)- I had to run a few errands, so I started my class later in the morning. I was in the area by Hammonasset (9:00 am), so I took a quick run through the Park to search for Shorebirds. Since there was a steady rain, I had to stay in my truck. I found the a single white domestic Goose was feeding with a flock of three dozen Canada Geese (three with yellow neck collars) in the Nature Center Parking lot. There were good numbers of Shorebirds feeding in the wet field. Highlights: 40+ Black-bellied Plover, 7 Golden Plover, 11 Dunlin, 3 Semi-palmated Sandpiper, 7 Kildeer, 3 Pectoral Sandpiper, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, 1 Ruddy Turnstone.
